Trafford Plaza apartments approved

MCR Property Group subsidiary Regency Residential has had its plans for a 16-storey building to the rear of Trafford Plaza approved by the council’s planning committee.

The development overlooking Seymour Park will contain 64 one-bedroom and 110 two-bedroom apartments.

There were 32 letters of objection. Complaints included that the design was too tall, there would be insufficient supply of parking, the towers detract from the beauty of Seymour Park and will take light from the park and Madison Apartments next door.

A separate existing building of nine storeys fronting Seymour Grove will be converted into flats by Regency under permitted development rights, which do not require the full planning application process.

MCR acquired the site from Bruntwood at the start of this year.

Roman Summer advised on planning. The architect is Leach Rhodes Walker.
