Toys R Us moves to Liverpool ONE

Toys R Us is to open a 13,000 sq ft store in Liverpool ONE's Upper South John Street.

The new store will open later this month. The unit previously housed clothing retailer Republic, which went into administration in 2013.

Cushman & Wakefield and Tushingham Moore acted for Liverpool ONE. Toys R Us was unrepresented.

Toys R Us has over 80 stores in the UK, including a unit on Paisley Street in Liverpool.

Miles Dunnett, head of asset management at Grosvenor, which owns Liverpool ONE, said: "Toys R Us is a key addition to Liverpool ONE's line-up of family-orientated brands. Combined with our existing toy and childrenswear retailers, our wide range of restaurants and cafes, and the open space provided by Chavasse Park, we have a critical mass that makes Liverpool ONE the first choice destination for families throughout the North West region."

The news coincides with continued strong performance from Liverpool ONE, according to Grosvenor, with sales year-to-date up by 5.7% compared to the same period last year.
