Total buys Middlewich plot for £4m

Total Developments has bought a 22-acre site in Middlewich for £4.1m, with a planning application for new industrial space due to be lodged in the coming weeks.

Total director Ed Chantler said the company aimed to start construction on the site, which has the potential to house 350,000 sq ft of development, in Q2 2018.

The site near Junction 18 of the M6, which is known as 18:22, has been bought from former Grafton Group chairman Michael Chadwick. Legat Owen acted as agent for Chadwick.

The plot sits next to the Ma6nitude business park, formerly known as Midpoint 18, which is home to warehouses tenanted by B&M, Kuehne + Nagel, and Wincanton. A joint venture between DB Symmetry and Pochin’s is currently on site at Ma6nitude building the first of nine industrial and distribution facilities across the 1.75m sq ft project.

Legat Owen director Matt Pochin said: “With DBS Pochin bringing forward large-scale distribution warehouses, 18:22 provides an excellent opportunity to complement this offer by focusing purely on the SME market, which is severely undersupplied as proven by the full occupancy rate and rental growth of the original Midpoint 18 scheme.”
