TM Legal Services relocates in Blackpool

Law firm TM Legal Services has relocated 90 staff to the 13,100 sq ft Viscount House, part of the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone, as part of a plan to create 70 jobs by the end of next year.

The company is relocating its entire business operation from Whitehills Business Park after purchasing the long lease of Viscount House from Slater Gordon Motor Services.

Its new office will initially accommodate 90 staff, but the company plans to add a further 70 by the end of next year; existing operations include financial management services including managing county court judgements and working on personal payment plans for individuals in financial difficulty.

The sale of the long lease by Slater Gordon follows its announcement it would be taking 22,000 sq ft at the town’s Talbot Gateway development, delivered by Muse as part of the redevelopment of Blackpool town centre, on a 15-year lease. Like TM Legal Services, Slater Gordon is also planning to add a significant number of staff in the next 12 to 18 months.

Natalie Wellington, operations director of TM Legal Services said: “A big factor in choosing the Enterprise Zone for our new headquarters was the added benefit from business rates relief over the next five years, which is a welcome extra financial incentive. It will certainly take some financial pressure off as we expand and grow our workforce and enable us to re- direct the money into essential client services.”

Cllr Mark Smith, cabinet member for regeneration, enterprise, and economic development at Blackpool Council said: “The chance to benefit from relief in business rates for up to five years is an invaluable cost incentive for companies that are experiencing growth and need to forecast carefully over the next few years.

“We hope that the Enterprise Zone will encourage more companies to the area and benefit from the financial incentives the Enterprise Zone site brings.”

Duxburys acted for Slater Gordon on the deal. According to agent’s brochure, the rent on the building is £10/sq ft.
