Three leave Knight Frank in second wave of cuts

Knight Frank has made three surveyors redundant across its Manchester and Liverpool commercial teams as it prepares to finish the year with reduced income due to the market downturn.

Karl Kiernan, industrial surveyor in Liverpool, Jamie Hills, junior industrial surveyor in Manchester and Chris Hibbert, junior investment surveyor, also in Manchester, have all gone.

The move follows the departure of four staff from business consultancy and valuation in June. Knight Frank now has 15 staff in its Liverpool office in Exchange Flags and 33 on King Street, Manchester.

David Porter, partner and head of Knight Frank commercial agency in the North West, said: "We have finished our review and this will be the last of the cuts we have to make. It is necessary to reduce costs as we have projected reduced income across the commercial business."

Rival agents in both cities are waiting to see if the expected wider cull of agency staff materialises in the autumn. Larger outfits such as CB Richard Ellis, GVA Grimley and DTZ are being tipped by many to make cuts in the coming weeks.
