FAB FOURÇADE… Ion, formerly Neptune Developments, has commissioned artist Anthony Brown to produce a three-storey piece along the full length of its Lime Street development in Liverpool. The graphic artwork will “remind Liverpudlians of their heritage”. According to Brown, expect a “quantum timeline” to show “what was, as we celebrate what comes next”. Wasn’t there that boy band that came from Liverpool a few years back? Wonder if they’ll feature…
ODE TO RUNCORN… Last night’s Open Mic Night hosted by Morgan Sindall and WSP saw the rockstars of the property industry showcasing their skills. A surreal evening of sorts, with highlights including Morgan Sindall’s Barry Roberts performing an acoustic solo of ‘I Will Survive’, and an original Runcorn sonata performed by WSP engineers, led by Rob Shoard. And they say there’s a skills shortage…
TOP TACKLERS… The annual Tri Region Property Rugby tournament at Birkenhead Park on Wednesday saw the North West crowned the victor, with some keenly contested matches. After a close game against the Midlands, which saw the North West scrape a 15 – 14 win, our region later trounced Yorkshire with three early tries which led to a rout, finishing 44 – 0. According to coach Tony O’Keefe from industrial agency LM6: “The North West backs were excellent with notable performances from the Oakey brothers, Mat Post, Jonny Brown and Ollie Fewtrell. However, ultimately the games were won following a Titanic effort from the forwards, with Peel Ports’ Pat Hughes dominant on the park.” The match raised funds for children’s charity Norfox. That is literally the strategy adopted by Dunstan Low who is raffling off his house for £2 a ticket, having tried and failed for years to sell his £800,000 mansion on the border of Cumbria and Lancashire. Lowe has been chipping away for months with the hope of selling 500,000 tickets, to raise the money equivalent to the value of the house. ROOM TO IMPROVE… Ever get that nagging feeling that you’re not quite achieving your potential? According to market research company Ipsos Mori, that feeling is shared by 68% of Brits. People in Great Britain are some of the least likely in the world to say: “I feel I have done everything in life I’m capable of.” Meanwhile in Indonesia, 69% feel very fulfilled, thank you very much. At the bottom of the international league table languishes Russia, where only 14% of residents would say they’re achieving to their capabilities. Is this pessimism, or perhaps ambition?
HIGH ART… If your ideal weekend features fine art and fancy castles, then it’s time for a drive over to Rhyl. The galleries and main house at Bodelwyddan Castle are now open to the public, featuring a new selection of landscapes and portrait paintings on the walls of each room, and a strongly Welsh theme.
