THG’s Hale Country Club revamp withdrawn

Plans were initially submitted to Trafford Council in May last year, only to be withdrawn in December.

Located at 47 Clay Lane in Timperley, the country club was to receive a new all-weather pitch, stationary surfing machine, yoga boot camp garden, mini-golf area, changing rooms, servicing access and staff car park.

EPR Architects designed the scheme. Euan Kellie Property Solutions is the planning consultant.

The plans had received negative feedback from Cllr Dylan Butt, who represents the nearby residents. Butt cited light pollution and noise issues as reasons for his objection. The councillor wrote that he would request a call-in of the application for a committee decision if the planning department wanted to approve the scheme under delegated powers.

Trafford’s environmental health officer Nasreen Ali said the pollution and housing team would be unable to support the planning application as well, as “it is considered that the likely noise and lighting disturbance created would be adversely detrimental to the amenity of the occupiers of the various sensitive residential premises in the vicinity of the site”.

THG and EKPS declined to comment on the application’s withdrawal.

While the country club plan has been withdrawn, THG received approval for its conversion of the nearby Paddock Farm into a luxury guesthouse in August.
