The Laundrette plans city centre debut

Popular Chorlton bar and restaurant The Laundrette is due to open its first outlet in Manchester city centre, in a unit on the ground floor of the Vita Student building at First Street.

The Laundrette has applied for a 10am-12am license, and will serve a varied menu of food alongside an extensive cocktail list. The site will incorporate an outside seating area, providing customers with heaters and blankets.

In addition to the restaurant, the Laundrette team is installing an express station inside the Vita Student building, providing complimentary breakfasts to students from 7am, Monday to Friday. Branded the Laundrette Coffee Co, it will offer a range of produce, including freshly ground coffee, juices, fresh fruit, yoghurts and a range of pastries baked daily on-site at the restaurant.

Patrick Hall, director of The Laundrette, said: “We are really excited to move the Laundrette into Manchester centre. First Street is a brilliant addition to Manchester’s food and drink scene and we’re delighted to have a south facing corner location perfect for enjoying our cocktails and carbs in a beautiful restaurant space or on our all-year terrace.”

Subject to planning, the Laundrette plans to launch in autumn.
