TfGM framework could reach £80m

Transport for Greater Manchester is refreshing its professional services framework for the next four years with work on offer in more than 20 disciplines.

The entire budget is put at between £35m and £80m and the number of firms expected to be appointed is 50.

The 27-page tender document begins: "Transport for Greater Manchester is spending millions to extend the existing Metrolink system; build transport interchanges and develop public transport facilities. These programmes require a range of specialist engineering, project management, research, analysis and survey services. The nature of these projects requires the contracting authority to be able to call-off specific specialist skills at short notice. These services will include transport planning and analysis, transport systems engineering, commercial services, transport survey and modelling services, environmental consultancy and other transport related professional services."

While the framework contract is being let by TfGM it may also be used by other passenger transport executives and members of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities including South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive; West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive; Tyne & Wear Passenger Transport Executive; West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive; Merseytravel, Association of Greater Manchester Authority partners and any of their successor organisations.

The new framework will replace two existing agreements which expire by April 2012. The current suppliers are AEA Energy & Environment, Atkins, Counter Context, Aecom, GfK NOP, Gifford, GMTU, Halcrow Group, Hyder Consulting, Ipsos MORI North, Jacobs UK, JMP Consultants, Mott MacDonald, mruk Research, MVA Consultancy, Scott Wilson, Steer Davies & Gleave, TNS UK, Acuity, Aedas Architects, Austin-Smith: Lord, Booz Allen Hamilton, Capita Symonds, Davis Langdon, EC Harris, Gillespies, Interfleet Technology, Mace, Marston &Grundy, MWH UK, Ove Arup & Partners, Parsons Brinckerhoff, SBS Architects and TRANSAMO.
