Newgate House

Tetrosyl relocates to Rochdale

The car care products manufacturer has acquired the 50,000 sq ft Newgate House from Telereal Trillium for its corporate headquarters.

The acquisition will see Tetrosyl relocate from its current base in Bevis Green in Walmersley, Bury, with Newgate to house offices, a research and technical development centre, and a product showroom.

Tetrosyl gained outline planning permission for a housing scheme at Walmersley in 2013, and is currently marketing the site to housebuilders. The proceeds of the sale will be invested into the redevelopment and expansion of the company's existing manufacturing facility at Bridge Hall in Bury.

The refit will see the construction of a manufacturing batch process plant, and the replacement of ancillary services previously housed at Walmersley.

Newgate House was vacated in 2013 by the Department for Work & Pensions and was marketed by GL Hearn on behalf of London-based Telereal Trillium. WHR advised Tetrosyl.

The property had an asking price of £1m.

Peter Schofield, chairman of Tetrosyl Group, said: "I am proud of the fact that Tetrosyl has its roots very firmly in Bury and the North West where it has been able to grow and develop for over 60 years from a small business to the international corporation it is now.

"The investment we are making in new and improved premises and equipment will further accelerate our performance as the leading supplier of car care products in Europe. We are proud of our heritage and also that brand leading products like T-Cut & CarPlan will continue to be made in Bury well into the future."

Tracy Cooper, corporate associate director at GL Hearn, said: "This is a great result not only for our client but also Tetrosyl and importantly Rochdale and the surrounding area. We are extremely pleased to have been a part of this project."
