Tesco moves to Fishergate

Supermarket chain Tesco has taken three units in Fishergate in Preston on a 15-year lease from landlord Vivienne Properties for a new convenience store.

Building work has begun to amalgamate the units at 82-83 Fishergate to create 4,150 sq ft over three floors, with 2,200 sq ft of ground floor retail space.

Internal fit-out will take an additional three weeks from construction handover, with the store due to open to the public at the end of September.

Commercial property consultant Robert Pinkus & Co acted alongside Ockleston Bailey on behalf of the landlord.

Joe Assalone, partner at Robert Pinkus & Co said: "There has been a requirement for a convenience retailer at this end of Preston's busy high street for some time and Tesco will fulfil this need. The new store will revitalise the retail offering whilst providing an essential service to shoppers, commuters using Preston train station and city workers."
