Tenant takes floor at Windmill Green

Tech firm Interact Software has agreed to take almost 13,000 sq ft in Windmill Green, Fore Partnership’s office development in Manchester city centre.

Interact will relocate its UK headquarters from Altrincham into the fifth floor of Windmill Green.

Fore Properties developed the office, which is a part-extension and a part-refurbishment of the former London Scottish House on Mount Street, opposite The Midland Hotel.

The building has floorplates of 12,750 sq ft from the second to fifth floors, along with 9,750 sq ft on the sixth floor, and roof terraces and a bar space on the seventh.

Interact will be the first tenant into the building. Co-working brand Our Space had previously agreed to take half of the ground floor and the entire first floor in a letting totalling 13,600 sq ft, in what would have been its debut site in Manchester. However the deal fell through at the start of this year.

Interact is a software-as-a-service business that provides digital workplaces for customers including Sony Interactive Entertainment, Lush Cosmetics, Travelex, Channel 4 and AO.com, as well as many public sector, NHS and social housing organisations.

Simon Dance, chief executive of Interact, said: “We were drawn to the sense of community that is being created at Windmill Green and the opportunities for collaboration that the state-of-the-art building offers.

“Having this kind of forward-thinking space in the heart of the city, with such amazing views, so well-connected to transport, other businesses, and leisure offerings for our employees is unusual and really gels with our values.”

Windmill Green has targeted a range of accreditions to prove its sustainability, having achieved BREEAM outstanding, WiredScore platinum, and Cycle Score platinum ratings.

Knight Frank, Lambert Smith Hampton, and Sixteen Real Estate are the joint agents for Windmill Green and advised Fore on the letting.

Matthews & Goodman advised Interact on the letting and Sheila Bird Group is assisting Interact with the fit-out of its space.

I quite like this building and am glad to see it’s got a tenant finally, although seems like a bit of struggle to get there…
