Telcom adds senior names to board

The business internet services provider has made a series of appointments to its non-executive board from the property and investment world, following on from its recruitment of former Trafford Council leader Sean Anstee earlier this year.

Telcom Group was established in Manchester in 2014 by chief executives Doug Ward and Shaun Gibson. Telcom’s goal is to build affordable, unlimited bandwidth, full fibre networks in cities across the UK.

Mike Blackburn, current chair of the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership has joined the board, alongside David Lathwood, lead director for JLL North West, and John Ogden, managing director of CBRE in the North.

Christoper Baldock, partner at law firm Gunnercooke and specialist in telecomms and IT, has been named as chairman.

The nature of the agreements with each non-executive director were undisclosed, however each will be giving time each month to advise Telcom on the roll-out of the company’s systems nationally and internationally.

Anstee joined Telcom in June as head of its infrastructure division.

Doug Ward and Shaun Gibson, co-chief executives of of Telcom Group, said: “We are excited that we have been able to attract talent of this calibre to enhance our company. With such a wide breadth of skills joining the team we are excited for our next stage of growth. With a strong senior leadership team and an established board, the Group is able to assert considerable momentum in delivering the vision to change the country’s internet.”

“We are also very pleased to welcome Mike, David and John on board as widely recognised key figureheads in property, telecommunications and investment. To have their industry knowledge and experience at our disposal will provide significant enhancement to the roll out of Node across the UK and internationally, and provide vital support and resources to the senior leadership team.”
