Representing Clarendon Sixth Form College, CBRE has completed the sale of a development site on Clarendon Road in Hyde, Tameside to the housebuilder for an undisclosed sum.
Outline planning permission has already been granted for the development of 96 homes at the site, and work is expected to start in the first quarter of 2018.
The college relocated from the 6.77-acre site to Ashton-under-Lyne in 2015. The site is situated in an established residential area with terraced housing adjacent to the property and Hyde Police Station located directly next door to the west of the site. East of the former college is an open area of green land that was previously used as the playing fields – this forms part of the site.
Both Newton for Hyde and Flowery Field railway stations are close to the scheme.
John Dunlop, director in CBRE’s national land and development team in Manchester, said: “This development in Hyde will contribute to meeting the local and national need for new homes and will also bring benefits to the community, including job creation, apprenticeships and increased economic activity in the local area.”
