Tameside confirms CPO for Crown Point East

Tameside Council is supporting Langtree's plans for a mixed-use project in Denton with a Compulsory Purchase Order served on landowners in the development area.

Langtree's plans for Denton Retail Park, formerly known as Crown Point East, comprises 165,000 sq ft retail and commercial space. The developer will also submit a planning application to build 67 homes on an adjacent site at Edward Street.

Stephen Barnes, development director at Langtree, said: "We are delighted that Tameside Council has made the CPO. This is another step forward in regenerating the former Oldham Batteries site."

Langtree obtained reserved matters planning consent for Crown Point East next to J1 of the M67 and J24 of the M60, in August 2008.

The site is next to British Land's established Crown Point North development, home to Boots, Tesco Homeplus and TK Maxx.

Colliers International and Mason Owen are advising Langtree.
