Talbot Gateway supermarket completed

Muse Developments has handed over a 120,000 sq ft store at its 25-acre Talbot Gateway scheme in Blackpool to Sainsbury's.

Phase one of the scheme, which includes a 126,000 sq ft office, the 60,000 sq ft Sainsbury's and a 600-space multi-storey car park, completed in April.

Shepherd Construction was main contractor for the Sainsbury's building. Following an interior fit-out by Barr Construction, the supermarket is due to be open by summer 2014.

Blackpool Council will be relocating into the offices and provides an anchor tenant for the £220m scheme. The office was designed by Aedas Architects and built by Eric Wright Construction.

Mike Horner, regional director at Muse Developments, said: "We're pleased to have reached such a pivotal stage in the development of this scheme and having such a landmark retailer within Talbot Gateway is an appealing draw for others looking to establish or expand their offering in Blackpool."

Retail units at Talbot Gateway are currently being marketed by Duxbury's Commercial, DTZ and Montagu Evans.
