Sykes signs at City Place

Holiday rental company Sykes Cottages has taken a 10-year lease on 24,000 sq ft across two floors in One City Place, Chester.

One City Place was completed by Muse Developments last year. The block is the first office building in Chester’s planned £100m Central Business Quarter, and has seen 27,000 sq ft of space let in the last seven months.

Tenants that have signed to date include SL Investment Management, RSM UK, Power Solutions UK, Excello Law and Black & Veatch.

Overbury is the fit-out contractor for Sykes, having recently completed the office fit-out for Black & Veatch.

300 employees of Sykes are due to move in from September.

Phil Mayall, development director at Muse, said: “Sykes Cottages’ relocation to One City Place highlights the diversity of the scheme, which can accommodate a wide range of business sizes and types. It’s always great to see a local company like Sykes succeed, and we look forward to watching the business continue to grow at its new address.

“Sykes’ relocation also means that One City Place is now more than 70% let and we still have strong interest in the remaining floor space, which is a real testament to the scheme as a new city centre destination for business.”

GVA and CBRE are joint letting agents at One City Place, while Bolton Birch acted for Sykes.
