Swanside bags £20m Regent Plaza contract

The contractor has been selected to build blocks B and C at Sourced Development Group’s 525-apartment complex in Salford following its appointment as main contractor on another of the developer’s schemes in Liverpool.

Birkenhead-based Swanside Group was awarded the £20m contract to build the 10-storey block B and the seven-storey block C at Regent Plaza after Evadx completed the steel frames for the structures.

Widnes-based Sourced Development confirmed it is in talks with Swanside over a contract to deliver the remaining three blocks.

The job is Swanside’s second for Sourced Development after the developer appointed the contractor to build 27 apartments on the site of the former Derby Arms pub, close to the Eventim Olympia concert venue, in Liverpool.

At Regent Plaza, Swanside has taken over as lead contractor from Helix Contracting, whose civils arm completed groundworks.

In total, Regent Plaza comprises five blocks, ranging from four to 24 storeys, and a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Fletcher Rae is the architect for the project.

Vernon Ellis, Swanside Group’s construction director, said the award of the contract “further cements our growing relationship with a significant developer in the North West”.
