Sutton Kersh confident on auction outlook

Sutton Kersh Auctions reported a rise in receipts from £37.5m in 2006 to £44.5m in 2007 although there was a dip in the percentage of lots sold.

The Liverpool-based auction house saw 77% of lots sold in 2007 compared to 85% last year.

At the firm’s final auction of the year, at the Marriott Hotel in Liverpool’s Queen Square in December, Sutton Kersh raised nearly £6m in receipts and sold 77% of the 79 lots available.

Managing director James Kersh said the bulk of assets sold in the year were residential but there was an increasingly commercial element to the portfolios.

Kersh added: “Considering this year’s market conditions, we are delighted with both our achievements and the outlook for 2008 having become one of the leading players in the market.”

Sutton Kersh’s next auction will take place on 21 February, 2008.
