Supermarket to open in Runcorn centre

Home Brew Supermarket has taken two adjoining industrial units totalling 2,500 sq ft on Runcorn's Enterprise Business and Logistics Centre on Picow Farm Road.

Home Brew Supermarket currently operates from premises in Moore, Warrington.

Matt Riley, the founder and managing director of Home Brew Supermarket, said: "The EBL Centre on Picow Farm Road is ideal for our future operations, both as a mail order base and as a retail outlet for our huge range of home brew products, supplies and equipment.

"Home brewing of beer, wine and cider is one of the fastest growing leisure pursuits in the UK – it's fun and very satisfying to do and the quality is excellent compared to the mass-produced, pre-made alternatives.

"We already have a massive UK-wide mail order customer base, but at the new premises we aim to help newcomers to the hobby by holding advice sessions, courses and one-to-one help surgeries to make sure our customers are totally successful in producing their home brew."

Building work at Home Brew Supermarket's new headquarters is expected to be complete by July this year, which will include a brewing room that will be fitted out for demonstrations and classes, as well as offices, a sales area, and a large mail order pack and dispatch area.

Six members of the Home Brew Supermarket team will initially be based at the Enterprise Business and Logistics Centre.

Riley added: "When we open in early July, we will have everything we need – brand new, specially-designed premises, a vibrant business community, easy parking for customers, and a great commercial location from where the company can grow and prosper."

Eddie Basnett, chief executive of the Halton-based EBL Group, developers of the centre on Picow Farm Road, added: "The purpose-built EBL Centre is certainly out-performing the vast majority of business parks in the region – more and more companies are taking space here and, despite the current economic climate, are putting down firm roots for future prosperity. From what I have seen of their business, I am sure Home Brew Supermarket will follow that trend."
