Studio RBA appoints head of technical team

Ian Turner has converted his role from consultant to the full-time head of the technical team at Liverpool architect Studio RBA as the practice expands to deal with its growing workload.

The appointment follows an 11-month consultancy period at the firm, before which Turner enjoyed long spells at Chorley-based Gilling Dod and Liverpool practice K2 Architects.

Kenny McNaughton, managing director of Studio RBA, said: ““Ian is a master technician and landing him is akin to Everton signing Messi. His technical abilities, knowledge and proficiency have few peers and if there was a ballon d’or for construction drawings Ian’s name would be etched permanently on it.”

Turner’s role includes acting as mentor for the technical team.

“We’re exceptionally busy and building a really solid team will strengthen the practice and ensure we support efficiently the other professionals with whom we work, such as the structural, civil, mechanical and electrical engineers,” said Turner.

The appointment follows a string of project wins, including residential scheme Telegraph House in Crosby for Crossfield Exclusive and the St Anne Street residential development for SEP Construction.

Studio RBA is based in Wavertree Business Park and employs 10 people.

“The development market remains confident and forward-looking and we’re finding that clients like our proactivity as much as our creativity. Ian’s appointment ensures we keep on top of deliverability, too,” added McNaughton.
