Student scheme for Fleet Street

Hope Street Properties has submitted an application to Liverpool City Council for the development of 52 studio apartments on Fleet Street.

The proposed seven-storey student accommodation scheme is for a brownfield site at 16 Fleet Street. The plans include commercial space in the basement and ground floor of the block.

In 2002 the building that previously occupied the site was demolished and the plot has remained vacant ever since.

The scheme is within the Ropewalks area of Liverpool city centre. There is a mix of restaurants, clubs and bars around the site.

The application was submitted by Snow Architects on behalf of Hope Street Properties.

A statement to the council said: "This project undertaken by the client sets out to transform the current brownfield site which has remained vacant for the past 12 years through a new build development… In creating an inclusive and sustainable environment with architectural merit, our client believes that this development will be a positive addition to Fleet Street and the Ropewalks area."

Hope Street Properties is based in Derby Buildings, Liverpool.
