Story consults on Barton greenfield plot

The housebuilder is seeking public views as it looks to bring forward around 125 homes on the site off Jepps Lane, near the M6.

Story Homes is proposing a mix of one to five-bed houses on the plot to the north of Jepps Lane, currently used as agricultural land and bordering existing residential properties.

Access is proposed to the south, while a green border is also planned to the south and to the North West of the plot. Of the 125 homes put forward, around 35% are proposed to be for affordable tenures.

As part of the development, the housebuilder will put forward £900,000 in community infrastructure levy payments. Following the consultation, which runs until 17 May, Story plans to submit a planning application by the end of spring. The site is not allocated under Preston City Council’s Local Plan, which runs between 2012 and 2026.

Story Homes’ land manager Martin Nugent said: “The consultation is an opportunity for the residents adjacent to the site to comment and provide feedback on our plans. At Story Homes we always strive to deliver the best possible development through thoughtful planning and design.

“We believe that our product is appropriate for this site due to the high quality of our houses and also our dedication to building developments which complement the local area, through thoughtful planning and design.”
