Stockport launches online heritage service

Stockport council has created an online historic environment database, to be known as SHED, cataloguing statutory and locally listed buildings, conservation areas, Article 4 directions, scheduled monuments and registered historic parks and gardens.

The council claims to be among the first in the country to offer such a system. Cllr Kevin Hogg, executive member for regeneration, said: "This is an impressive addition to the council's website services, enabling everyone to access and understand the extensive history and heritage of Stockport.

"This project continues to push the council's desire to put Stockport at the forefront of information provision, enabling the whole world to see what we have to offer and experience our unique historic places and buildings."
