Stockport care home sold for £16m

London-based investor Octopus Healthcare has bought Bramhall Manor, a 71-bedroom care home, from New Care for £16m in the same week the facility was handed over to the NHS to ease pressure on hospital beds.

Bramhall Manor, on Hardy Drive in Bramhall, is now receiving patients who have been discharged from hospital but require further assessment as part of a borough-wide response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

New Care, a healthcare subsidiary of Altrincham-based McGoff Group, will remain as tenant and operator of the facility.

Construction of the three-storey building, carried out by McGoff Construction, completed at the end of March.

Manchester-based Beyond Corporate Law represented New Care as legal advisor in the deal.

James Flynn, head of Beyond’s real estate division, said: “At a time when many deals have not only had delayed completions but been iced entirely, we are delighted to complete such an important transaction in what are undoubtedly challenging circumstances.”

Chris McGoff, chief executive of New Care, added: “Despite the challenges we are currently facing, business continuity is essential, particularly if it is supporting the Covid-19 effort [to support] the most vulnerable in our society.”
