Stockbridge site cleared for development

The £25m redevelopment of Stockbridge village in Knowsley has begun with the demolition of a disused leisure centre by contractor J Freeley.

In a four month contract, Manchester-based J Freeley demolished the Heatwaves Leisure Centre and prepared the site in readiness for the building of a new primary school incorporating a children's centre and family centre.

Morgan Sindall is the lead construction partner on the project, which will also include a new swimming pool, gym and leisure facilities, learning resource centre, police access point, multi-use games area and a supermarket. The structural engineers on the development are Thomasons.
