Stewart Milne secures consent for Prescot housing

Housebuilder Stewart Milne is due to start redeveloping the former British Insulated Callenders Cables site in Prescot in the coming months after winning planning consent for 68 homes from Knowsley Council.

The company is planning to build a mix of two, three, four, and five-bed houses on site around a mile east of Prescot town centre, seven of which will be classed as affordable.

Work will include landscaping and the construction of a new access road to link the development with Scotchbarn Lane, and Stewart Milne said building work would begin in the coming months.

The housebuilder is expected to start on site in the coming months as part of its plans to build 1,000 homes across the region in the next five years.

Stewart Milne Homes North West managing director Paul Challinor, said: “The approval of our plans for these new homes is a significant milestone in the progress of our region and the development and marks the beginning of our first major new North West site in 2018.

“Our homes will provide a quality choice for those looking to buy a new home in Prescot and we have already received significant interest from potential buyers. We look forward to delivering these new homes at Callenders Green and assisting with the council’s regeneration plans for the area.”

Other nearby developments include a 10-acre site, also along Scotchbarn Lane, which will see the construction of 133 new homes. Bellway bought the site, which formerly housed a school, earlier this year and aims to start construction in the first half of the year.
