Stephenson adds three to Manchester studio

Andrew Wakefield has joined Stephenson Studio as architect, alongside Frances Phillips as senior architect, and Justin Risley has returned to the practice as a partner.

Wakefield has moved to Stephenson Studio from BDP, with experience particularly in precast façade design. He has considerable knowledge of BIM, and will specialise in the delivery of projects in the design and construction phase.

Phillips brings more than 10 years of experience designing and delivering a variety of projects, after working for eight years at Ellis Williams Architects.

Risley has rejoined Roger Stephenson following two years away from the practice, working with Aboda Living and Levitt Bernstein. Prior to that, he worked for 13 years at Stephenson, and was lead project architect for the Chetham’s School of Music.

Roger Stephenson, managing partner, said: “We are going through exciting times with an interesting and prestigious portfolio of work. The great team we already have will benefit from the addition of three more highly talented people. It is especially good to welcome Justin back.”

The practice is based on Commercial Street in Manchester. Roger Stephenson is the managing partner of Stephenson Studio and a major shareholder. The practice is part of the SimpsonHaugh Group, also a shareholder in the practice.

Stephenson Studio has a series of projects underway in Manchester, including Brownsfield Mill for Urban Splash, the extension to Hallé St Peters, and a number of hotel, apartment and private house commissions.
