St Peter’s Square to hit 20 storeys

Stephenson Studio’s designs for the latest Motel One in Manchester have been submitted on behalf of Property Alliance Group, replacing Peterloo House off St Peter’s Square with a 328-bed hotel and 108 apartments.

The hotel would occupy the ground to eighth floors and the apartments floors nine to 20. The site is bounded by George Street, Back George Street.

The development would be called No 3 St Peter’s Square and sit immediately to the rear of the new office buildings Nos 1 and 2 St Peter’s Square, designed by Glenn Howells Architects and SimpsonHaugh & Partners respectively, and both shorter than the proposed No 3.

This would be the third Motel One in the city, following Piccadilly, which opened in 2015, and the latest nearing completion on Cross Street, also being developed by Alliance with Stephenson Studio.

Motel One is a German budget hotel group with 55 hotels and plans to expand overseas to take the number of hotels to 74.

Why not explain the ownership of Stephenson Studio. It is really just SimpsonHaugh under another guise.
