St Modwen sells Ellesmere Port housing site

The developer has announced the sale of 10.5 acres of residential land to Countryside at Cromwell Road, its second disposal at the 29-acre former HH Robertson steelworks. Countryside plans to build 150 houses for private rent and sale.

The deal follows the August 2016 sale of 5.76 acres to Sigma Capital for 98 houses designed for the PRS sector. In total, the Robertson site has planning permission for up to 350 homes.

The land was sold unremediated and unserviced for £2.35m.

Nick Whittingham, land director at St Modwen, said: “Cromwell Road is a key regeneration area for Ellesmere Port Development Board and Cheshire West & Chester Borough Council and will open up the area for major improvement.”
