St Helens to rebuild youth justice centre

St Helens Council is to spend up to £17m redeveloping the Redbank Community Home for young offenders.

The council will shortlist up to five contractors for the design and build of a 40,000 sq ft building on Winwick Road in Newton le Willows.

The development is expected to take three years to complete and is being financed by the council. A budget of between £14m and £17m has been agreed. The current Redbank home has accommodation for 40 young people from 11 to 18 years old.
