Squire Patton Boggs hires from DWF

Squire Patton Boggs has appointed real estate partner Mark Barker, who has joined the firm from DWF in Manchester.

Barker has more than 25 years’ real estate experience, specialising in development work with particular expertise in strategic and complex regeneration projects.

He was a partner at DWF, and was formerly a partner at Cobbetts, which was acquired by DWF in 2013 after it entered administration.

Squire Patton Boggs’ Manchester real estate team, led by Mark Gaffney, has particular expertise in the chemicals, sport, leisure and hotel sectors.

Barker’s appointment follows Squire Patton Boggs’ announcement last month that it will be relocating to Allied London’s No 1 Spinningfields when it is complete in 2017.  He is the third partner to join the firm in Manchester during the course of the last 12 months, with Debra Cooper joining the financial services team in January 2016, and employment partner Paula Cole joining the firm in May 2015.

Rob Elvin, managing partner of Squire Patton Boggs in Manchester, said: “Growth is very much on our agenda. We are passionate about our standing in the local market and the growth of our partnership and investment in new premises provides us with a platform for the firm’s future in the city.”
