Sporting Pro takes space at Peel Centre
A 10,000 sq ft retail unit at the Peel Centre Stockport has been let to Intersport Sporting Pro, a new retail chain being launched this month by former JJB Sports chief executive Tom Knight.
Backed by Matalan, Sporting Pro has signed a 10-year lease on a unit adjacent to the Next store at the Peel Land & Property-owned retail development.
Sporting Pro will open 15 stores across the country this year.
The previous long-term tenant in the unit was Land Of Leather.
Kevin Keigher, asset manager for Peel Land & Property, said: "Peel's continued focus on the development and the progression of the retail park has resulted in the recent additions of TK Maxx, Costa Coffee, Home Bargains, DFS and Harveys.
"These additions, together with the exciting addition of Sporting Pro ensures that the Peel Centre Stockport offers a wide mix of shopping thus catering for modern day consumer requirements."
Peel negotiated the lease directly with Sporting Pro.
Joint agents for the Peel Centre are Reid, Rose, Gregory and Cushman & Wakefield.
