Splash wins Southport funfair contest

Urban Splash has been chosen to redevelop the former Pleasureland funfair site on Southport seafront into an eco-park with gardens, hotels and a marine lake.

The 25-acre site, renamed Marine Park, was closed by parent company Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 2006.

Urban Splash will now draw up a detailed masterplan for consultation. The scheme will be central to Southport council's campaign to cement the town's reputation as England's Classic Resort.
