Solen Energy expands to Speke

The German-based company has opened its second UK base in Speke, south Liverpool.

The firm was assisted in its move and setting up of new premises close to Liverpool John Lennon Airport by The Mersey Partnership.

Solen Energy UK currently has eight staff based in Unit 5 at Ashtenne Industrial Fund's Skypark International in Speke.

Lorraine Rogers, TMP chief executive, said: "TMP welcomes Solen Energy UK to the City Region. The company has a proven track record for developing business quickly once it has become established in an area. By investing in Liverpool Solen Energy has recognised the opportunities available to Low Carbon Economy businesses choosing to locate here."

Frank Schulmann, director of Solen Energy UK, added: "We are committed to contribute our knowledge and experience to the Merseyside region to ensure that Liverpool can fulfil its challenging targets for the Low Carbon Emissions Plan. We will be working with local people and intend to stay in the Merseyside region to ensure long term relationships with our customers."

Solen Energy's new Liverpool base will offer a full turn-key solution for solar energy systems using a partnership of local staff and Solen's experience in the European solar market.

Solen Energy develops, builds and operates solar systems for flat, pitched and arched roof tops.

The firm was established in 2005 and has installed solar power plants with a total capacity of over 50MW worldwide.

In Europe, the company has a turnover of approximately €150m and employs over 120 staff across Europe.

Solen Energy's other UK office is based in Cornwall.
