Soccer Domes sale for JJB

JJB Sports has sold its five UK Soccer Domes to Powerleague Fives in a £17.4m cash deal.

Wigan-based JJB will keep the leasehold sites – three of which are in Manchester, Wigan and Blackburn – and will continue trading from the attached stores and health clubs, while Powerleague will lease the Soccer Domes and the bars, coffee shops and function rooms within them, as well as paying JJB annual rent and rates.

The two companies have also signed a five-year sponsorship agreement which will see JJB act as Powerleague's official retailer.

Powerleague Fives, which claims to be the UK's leading five-a-side football centre operator, is a subsidiary of Paisley-based Powerleague Group.

Bank Of Scotland Corporate helped finance the acquisition.
