Snuggledown moves in Wigan

The industrial team at property consultant JLL has let unit 10 Lockett Road at South Lancs Industrial Estate in Wigan to John Cotton Group, owner of the Snuggledown brand.

The major manufacturer of pillows, duvets and mattress protectors also owns premises next door and has signed a 10-year lease on the unit, paying an initial rent of £3/sq ft, rising to £3.25/sq ft in the third year.

The 100,500 sq ft warehouse was refurbished as part of the deal and also comes with a 3.4-acre yard. The firm will use the new warehouse for storage with some re-packing and has relocated from a modern 80,000 sq ft unit on Martland Park, Wigan.

Richard Johnson, associate director, industrial and logistics at JLL, said: “We knew, given the lack of built ‘Big Box’ sheds in the region, that the unit would attract good interest. Snuggledown was able to secure one of the few spaces of this size in the North West, refurbished to their specification, and relocate next door to their manufacturing facility.

“In addition, we have also been instructed to market the now vacant 80,000 sq ft unit at Martland Park”

JLL was the sole letting agent on the scheme. Dacres Commercial represented John Cotton Group.
