Smith & Sons sale achieves 76% success

Wirral auction house, Smith & Sons, said sales reached nearly £2m at its first auction of the year.

There were 29 lots offered for sale at the auction, held on 15 February at the Village hotel in Bromborough, with homes in need of refurbishment and repair attracting the most interest.

The sale had a 76% success rate overall. Houses and bungalows in Heswall, Wallasey and Morerton generated were sold above the guide price.

Chris Johnson, auctioneer at Smith & Sons, said: "There is clearly an upsurge in demand once again for good investment buys from builders, developers and landlords. We have faced a cautious and uncertain market during the past two years. However, this auction does reflect a wider positive shift across the general property market."

Smith & Sons is now taking entries for its next auction on 19 April.
