Sladen starts on Pilsworth retail and industrial park

PDR Construction has started work on Park 66, a mixed retail and industrial scheme on the site of the former Vue cinema in Pilsworth, Bury, for developers Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities.

The site has been largely vacant since its former tenants, including Vue Cinema, Megabowl, Pizza Hut, Frankie & Benny’s, and Chiquito all moved out between 2010 and 2012.

Now, the developers are bringing forward a mixed-use development on the site just off Junction 3 of the M66, including a mix of retail and industrial uses.

Home Bargains, Iceland’s Food Warehouse, Costa Coffee, and KFC have all been signed up as anchor tenants for the retail space, while there is still around 8,800 sq ft of retail available. These units are set to open in spring 2019.

The development also features four industrial units totalling 65,000 sq ft, with one of 24,200 sq ft; another of 23,000 sq ft; and two further units of 9,000 sq ft, all available on a freehold or leasehold basis.

Sladen Estates development director Nigel Jones said: “We knew that there would be keen interest in the industrial space, as there is limited supply of these size units, but with one already under offer and another shortly to be placed into solicitors’ hands, reality has exceeded expectation.”

Avison Young and CBRE are the agents for the industrial units with LSH, CPS and Knight Frank retained on the retail.
