CITB, the industry training board for the UK construction sector, has appointed Manchester's SKV Communications to handle its local and regional media relations after a five way pitch.
SKV has been tasked with supporting CITB, now in its 50th year, by developing a proactive regional media strategy for England and helping the organisation promote the skills and vocational training agenda.
Michelle Summers, external relations manager at CITB, said: "The stringent procurement process was designed to find the right agency to highlight CITB's authoritative voice and clearly set out what CITB stands for and how we can support government.
"SKV's work will demonstrate the work CITB does to bring real value to industry."
SKV will also promote awards backed by CITB, including SkillBuild, the National Construction College Awards, Managing Agency Awards, and the organisation's 'Pride of Construction Awards' which will mark the training board's 50th anniversary.
Richard Bond, director of strategy at SKV, said: "It is great that our analysis of the challenges facing the construction sector and our proposed solutions to the CITB's communications brief was rated highly.
"We look forward to working with CITB's teams, partners and its many construction clients across England to continue to build the organisation's profile and reputation."
