Sixtwo prepares plans for No 12 Tithebarn

Capital & Centric has appointed Sixtwo Architects to submit a planning application for its £6m redevelopment of No 12 Tithebarn Street in the business district of Liverpool.

The scheme will deliver 40,000 sq ft of office space.

Outline planning approval was granted for a concept designed by AEW Architects in March. Sixtwo Architects was engaged to further develop the design.

The new scheme proposes "the demolition of the unsightly overbearing crown to the top of the building and the insertion of bold, contemporary interventions at the core and entrance".

Louise Pearson, development manager at Capital & Centric , said: "We commissioned Sixtwo Architects due to their ability create fresh, innovative design solutions and their understanding of the development process dovetails with Capital & Centric's aspirations for creating something very different."

ERDF funding is pending on 12 Tithebarn Street.

The derelict office building and an adjacent 50-space surface car park were acquired from Derwent Lodge Properties early in 2013.

Good, it needs sorting out, been derelict since I moved here about seven years ago!

This was a busy office block with a golf bar on the ground floor. It was then sold to make way for yet more apartments… These thankfully though never came to fruition.

I remember when it was a restaurant on the ground and basement, I would’t mind apartments so long as someone does something with it.

Funny part of ‘pool that…has a sense of tragedy hanging around it…wonder if they used to execute people there in mediaeval times…
