Sisk wins Manchester Life contract

Manchester Life Development Company has appointed John Sisk & Son as main contractor for the first of six development sites within phase one of the Manchester Life initiative, which in total will see more than 900 mainly privately rented homes developed in East Manchester.

Planning Permission was granted in July 2015 for the redevelopment of the currently vacant New Union Street Site, with the project designed to meet the pressing need for well-managed rental homes, with outstanding levels of customer service, communal spaces and a range of amenities and facilities on site.

The project includes commercial units on the marina front, which will be accessible to the public. The development site covers 2.4 acres of cleared ground. There will be three buildings of between eight and 10 storeys, containing 302 apartments in total. The scheme was designed by RTKL; Deloitte advised on planning.

Manchester Life Development Company is the residential property development company owned by Manchester City Council and Abu Dhabi United Group, which is driving the sympathetic and sustainable redevelopment of Ancoats and New Islington into vibrant and inclusive communities.

Site work is expected to start in October 2015, with apartments ready for occupation in the autumn of 2017.
