SimpsonHaugh joins team on £200m MeadowSide

The practice will work alongside Jon Matthews Architects to help deliver the residential site in Manchester as developer FEC prepares to launch part of the scheme to potential residential buyers.

The site features 756 homes across four residential blocks overlooking Angel Meadow.

Three of the blocks are now under construction: The Mount Yard, which reaches 12 storeys and is being delivered by Bardsley Construction; and The Gate & Stile, being delivered by a joint venture between Westfields Construction and China Zheijang Construction Group Hong Kong.

Bardsley’s scheme features a brick-clad block linked to the park, and is due to complete in late 2020. The developer FEC is launching the apartments for sale at an event at its marketing suite on Irk Street on Saturday 6 April.

The Gate & The Stile, featuring two blocks of 22 and 17 storeys including 286 one, two, and three-bed apartments, is due to complete in spring 2021.

The wider project also includes a 41-storey tower named The Peak; a start date for this part of the development has not yet been set.

Architect 5plus designed the scheme, before the project was handed over to Jon Matthews Architects following his departure from 5plus last year. SimpsonHaugh and Jon Matthews will continue to work on the scheme in a design guardianship role, as well as focussing on technical monitoring and fulfilment of MeadowSide’s original design.

The properties are being marketed by Cushman & Wakefield and JLL.
