Shoosmiths strengthens planning team

National law firm Shoosmiths has added two to its Manchester planning offering, recruiting from Birmingham and London.

Associate Melanie Grimshaw has joined from Bircham Dyson Bell, in London, where she advised on major projects, including infrastructure projects.

Solicitor Marcus Woody has relocated to Manchester having spent nearly four years at Shoosmiths' Birmingham office.

Kirsten Hewson, national head of planning, said: "Since we opened in Manchester, I've been keen to see us establish a dedicated planning team here.

"And while Melanie and Marcus will work closely with the recently established Manchester real estate team, there's certainly scope for them to bring on board and develop their own clients to bolster the national planning team, which already boasts a presence in the south and Midlands.

"If they achieve that, then we can look forward to an expanded north west team sooner rather than later."

Harold Brako, partner and Manchester head of office, said: "The push to a full service office continues unabated, and the planning bridgehead established by Kirsten adds to the financial, corporate and banking, real estate, and consumer services already here."
