Shoosmiths’ property team on target

Law firm Shoosmiths said its real estate team in Manchester has reached double figures six months after launching in the city.

Vaqas Farooq, partner and property specialist, moved to the office in 3 Hardman Street, Spinningfields in May to begin the North West real estate offering.

Among the now 12-strong team is newly recruited partner Andrew Pattinson, who joined from DLA Piper, and senior associate James Wynne, who joined from Eversheds.

Alongside Farooq, Pattinson and Wynne, the team comprises: associates Melanie Grimshaw, and Neil Bradley; solicitors James Brodie, Marcus Woody and Kirsty O'Connor; paralegal Helen Porter; and PAs Helena McSharry, Amy Robinson and Sharon Graham.

Farooq said: "Back in May I stated that I wanted to develop a real estate team quickly, and am delighted that we have been able to achieve that.

"Now, with these experienced and well connected people in place and with a further senior recruit confirmed for January we can really start to build momentum here in the North West.

"Together, the real estate team possesses a focus on retailers and leisure operators, real estate finance and restructuring, investors, and a wealth of experience acting for commercial and residential developers on high value commercial, residential and mixed use schemes."

North West real estate clients include Manchester Airport Group, Inventive Leisure, TDG and Grant Thornton.

The Manchester office also offers corporate, private equity, financial services, banking litigation, real estate, and consumer legal services.
