Sheppard Robson to design UCLAN architecture school

Manchester-based architects Sheppard Robson have won the contest to design the £11m University of Central Lancashire school for architecture and the built environment.

The 60,000 sq ft building will be located on a new site recently acquired by the university at the centre of the campus.

Alex Solk, associate at Sheppard Robson, commented: "The UCLAN school of architecture will be a unique building, designed to reflect its purpose. Using the building as a learning resource is a key part of the brief, this will be delivered through use of innovative materials, exposing servicing and a highly visible sustainability strategy."

The building is scheduled for completion in September 2011.
