Manchester City Council is set to approve several major projects across the city next week, including a 35-storey tower, a hotel, homes and workspace at St John’s, and an 86,000 sq ft office.
The schemes which have been recommended for sign off at the council’s planning committee meeting on the 15 October are:
- Redevelopment of 40 Fountain Street into an 86,000 sq ft office to be called 11 York Street by Aberdeen Asset Management, designed by AHR Architects
- 191 apartments at Potato Wharf in Castlefield by Lend Lease, across two blocks
- Refurbishment of the Bonded Warehouse at the former ITV Granada site by Allied London, to deliver flexible workspaces, restaurants and leisure, designed by Buckley Gray Yeoman
- Allied London’s conversion of the Old Granada Studios headquarters into a 150-bedroom event hotel known as Manchester Grande, with rooftop private members bar and pool, designed by Levitt Bernstein
- Demolition of the former Coronation Street set to make way for the first phase of the Village, delivering 66,700 sq ft of apartments, 80,000 sq ft of workspace, and 36,500 sq ft of retail units across nine buildings. SimpsonHaugh & Partners is the architect.
- 35-storey tower made up of 330 apartments for private rent, with a bar, library, gym and rooftop garden at 10-12 Whitworth Street West by Brigantes, designed by 5plus Architects
- 30 townhouses and apartments for sale and 100 car parking spaces on a surface car park off Cutting Room Square in Ancoats, the third site to be brought forward by Manchester Life
Deloitte Real Estate advised on the planning applications for all seven projects, and provided the financial viability assessment to Brigantes at Whitworth Street West and Allied London for Manchester Grande and the Village.
