Senior promotion at IBI

Neil Lewin, studio principal at IBI Handforth, has been promoted to deputy regional director as part of a reshuffle of senior management roles at the Canadian-owned group.

Lewin will continue with his studio principal duties as head of the multi-disciplinary teams across commercial, residential, urban design and planning as well as taking up the newly created post. Alan Simpson remains head of the education studio in Handforth. IBI employs 120 people in three offices in the region; Rochdale, Liverpool, Handforth. Nationally the firm employs 250 people.

Elsewhere in the group, Paul Hewes remains regional director but will now be supported by these newly appointed deputy regional directors, Lewin and Graeme Scott in Glasgow. Hewes will take on a more international role, joining the $300m group board.

IBI said in a statement that “Lewin will be responsible for developing IBI Group’s contribution to urban development in the UK. This will include building on the portfolio from North America, and further growing the multi-disciplinary infrastructure business.”

Lewin said: “We have an expert team of architects, urban designers, planners and landscape architects with an excellent reputation for private sector and social infrastructure development across the UK and Ireland.”

Scott, who joined IBI Group’s Glasgow studio in 2001, will be responsible for creating synergies across IBI’s services, including technology systems.

IBI employs 2,400 staff in 66 offices. Studios in the UK and Ireland include London, Cardiff, Brighton, Newark, Birmingham and Dublin, as well as those above.
