Sellafield invites bids for £250m contract

A tender has been published for a design and construction contract worth up to £250m at the nuclear power station at Sellafield.

The work involves early engagement in the design process, procurement, manufacture, installation, construction and commissioning of a planned silos maintenance facility.

Sellafield, the company responsible for delivering decommissioning, reprocessing, nuclear waste management and fuel manufacturing activities on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in Cumbria, said the contract will allow for the demolition of old silo facilities.

The orgnanistation said the contractor will work with Sellafield engineers to deliver the concept and preliminary design of phase one. This will be followed by phase two, which the contractor will be responsible for completing the detailed design and the procurement of any long lead items of plant and equipment.
