Seddon wins school job off Hub

Builder and developer Seddon has secured its first contract on the re-procured medium value NWCH framework, which was announced in February.

The appointment will see Seddon deliver a £5m school extension for Stockport Council in Heaton Chapel after successfully winning a mini-competition run through the framework.

The national company, which has offices in Bolton, will deliver a new junior block at St Thomas’ CE Primary and establish a seeded sports pitch and running track as part of the contract.

The new building off Wellington Road North will provide provision of 360 school pupils aged seven to 11 once complete for the start of the 2016/2017 academic year.

The contract was released through the medium value framework for work worth between £2m and £9m for public bodies and councils in Cumbria, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.

NWCH expects to award anywhere between £250m and £1bn through the framework over the next three years with an option to extend for a further year.

The framework will enable public sector organisations and construction companies to work in partnership to deliver projects more efficiently, on time and within budget, with an enhanced focus on quality, added value and sustainability outcomes.

Andre Witter, Construction Manager at Seddon, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded our first contract released through the new framework.

“Seddon has a reputation for delivering high-quality school projects across the UK and I look forward to adding St Thomas’ to that ever growing list.

“We hope that this is the first of many contracts we secure through the framework.”

As part of the contract Seddon has promised a number of apprenticeships, work placements and work experience posts.
